Woodfibre LNG Limited is committed to building a project that is right for Squamish, and right for BC.
From 2013 to Spring 2015, Woodfibre LNG held more than 320 community meetings, hosted two business information sessions and opened a Community Office in Squamish.
Community consultation has led to meaningful changes to the project. The Woodfibre LNG plant will be powered with electricity from BC Hydro, instead of natural gas, which will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by about 80%, and make Woodfibre LNG one of the cleanest LNG facilities in the world.
Below are some of Woodfibre LNG Limited’s community consultation activities (February 2014 to March 2015) as part of an environmental assessment of the Woodfibre LNG project.
BC Environment Assessment Office (EAO) Open Houses
Over three days, January 28–30, 2015, Woodfibre LNG Limited met with more than 400 people at the BC Environment Assessment Office (EAO) Open Houses, which were held in Squamish, West Vancouver and on Bowen Island. The Open Houses were an opportunity for Woodfibre LNG to share information about our proposed Project and answer questions, and gather feedback from the community.
The Woodfibre LNG team would like to extend our thanks to those of you who took time out of your busy day to attend the Open Houses. If you were unable to attend, you can still access the information made available at the Open Houses by clicking here.
On February 23, 2015, the EAO accepted Woodfibre LNG’s request to extend the Public Comment Period from 46 days to 60 days. Woodfibre LNG Limited made the request after hearing a desire on the part of the community to have more time to review and comment on the EAC application. The Public Comment Period ended on March 23, 2015.
Responses to the most frequently asked questions (FAQ) from the Public Comment Period can be found here. To view all Public Comments submitted to the EAO and Woodfibre LNG Limited’s responses, please visit here.
